As far as I can tell, no private information was published. A photo of her being a despicable human being was published with her license plate number. It's the least that should happen. More importantly, should she ever be involved in a cyclist vs. auto incident, the cyclist (or his/her family should it be fatal) now has a record of a pattern of behavior. This is particularly important in states where laws of 'contributory negligence' are still in effect. This pattern of behavior makes it much more likely that she will be vulnerable (in a good way) to guilt based on a pattern of animosity toward cyclists. I say string her up.
I agree this driver should be charged with breaking the law. However, based on the articles written there should also be some criminal charges on the individuals that ran her tags and made her private information public. It's our duty as citizens to report the bad people who break the law. But that is where it ends. Once people use their jobs as a way to publicly hurt someone ( cyclists, off duty officers ) then they are changing the rules for everyone. This makes for a dangerous environment for the guilty and the innocent.
A license tag is required to use a public road. Drivers are also required to carry insurance, get safety inspections, and follow the law. Calling out a driver for breaking the law and endangering others is both legal and appropriate. If her actions constitute assault with deadly weapon, she is guilty of a felony.
The legal latitude for stopping a deadly assault is broad enough that we don't need to discuss it here.
Simply put, she is lucky she did not harm my child or her own.
If you don't want the attention or the exposure, keep your mouth shut and your eyes forward. On the same theme, if she felt the bikers were doing something illegal, she could have called the police instead of trying to be a vigilante. She gave, she got. Like begets like. Maybe others can learn from her mistake.
Am I missing something? Reading through agh the posts on her, I’m not seeing any private, or personal info. They know the driver is a chick because they looked in the car, and saw a woman driving! no where in these posts does it say her name.
Are you sure that someone broke the law but running her tags? That sounds right to me, but I haven't researched the issue. I think the Driver Privacy Protection Act of 1994 would probably forbid use of an official database for this sort of thing. Maybe this is also publicly available through unofficial databases like TLO and Action, though.
How incredibly rude and disrespectful! A horrible, disgusting person. How uncaring does a person have to be, that they'd purposely block a bike lane and endanger human life? This woman should be arrested.
This woman needs to be held accountable for her actions. At the very least, she should be sited for breaking traffic laws by riding in the bicycle lane and for vulgar behavior in public.
Shame. This hateful driver needs to learn that driving is not a right, it is a privelidge. Moving violation and reckless driving. she should have her license revoked. And her head examined, what an idiot.
I'm amazed at this human in a vehicle actually trying to do harm, or worse, kill cyclists. She knows the damage her vehicle can do to a human on a bike. What the hell is wrong with her???
I heard that A few months ago this same crazy woman was seen driving around town throwing dook balloons at random cyclist. Something needs to be done before anyone gets hurt.
