I was traveling southbound on Whitman Street, a bike route with badly marked sharrows that are actually under some cars. I was moving about 17MPH. There was oncoming traffic and there are large box trucks on the side of the road, giving insufficient space for any pass, and thus I took the lane. I always pull over at the bridge across Orchard Avenue because no one is parked there and I can let any traffic pass there while coasting.
I was aggressively tailgated for about 15 seconds by a white sedan which honked repeatedly, and which was far too close to stop if I fell.
When I pulled to the side on the bridge, the driver then slowed down and told me to get out of the way. As I drifted just behind the car, the driver swerved his car towards me, luckily with enough space for me to avoid, and then took off.
I caused less than 10 net seconds of delay to this person.
