Society has changed a lot as it became more diverse over the past decades. Things that were unethical or wrong way back then are "acceptable" social practices today. Running a stop sign is no big deal to many, so when you confront them, your confrontation is a much bigger deal than them running the stop sign, bumping another car while parallel parking, or scratching a car in the parking lot as they reverse out of a spot.
