This morning about 8:15am a child who looked to be between 9 and 12 years old was struck by a black older model BMW X5 license plate # 7BNL272. Caucasian woman driving. I turned around to find that the lady drove off without contacting a paramedic, police officer or the child's parent.
So I took it upon myself to follow this lady, who was on a phone call. I pulled up next to her and asked her for her information at which time she told me that the little girl said she was ok. I then asked her if she contacted the girls parent and of course she did not. So I told her I would be calling the police. I followed her to the Ralph's parking lot where she proceed to tell me that she had to go to work, which infuriated me even more. After following this lady for 30 minutes I was told by the police I no longer needed to follow her since I provided them with her license plate and description. I went back to the scene and this child was gone.
Being a mother to a 3 year old girl, it saddens me that an adult would take the work of a child and not contact the authorities about an incident that very well could have been an accident. This little girl's parents have no idea she was hit by a car this morning because the adult who hit her didn't feel it necessary to contact them. So I hope this little girl's mother or father is on next door so they can be aware of what happened to there child this morning. There was another parent out there trying to protect her.
I pray that she is truly ok.
