kind of bad driver (plus his rotted out exhaust), just smelled something burning coming from his car, and it was whining and sounded like someone was knocking on a door.

I've noticed over the past couple of years that Subaru drivers are starting to become a bit of a stereotype. Not the wholesome WRX/ STi driving crowd, but the wheezy un-Impreza and Forester drivers driven by militant lesbians, SJWs and leftist millennials. By the way- It's likely they "brake-checked you" not locked the brakes as all cars as of 2012 have ABS brakes.
